Australia Day in Narrandera Shire

Spend Australia Day in Narrandera Shire and celebrate in style.

Narrandera Lake Talbot Water Park and Lake area:

  • Free Community Breakfast at Lake Talbot Water Park from 7.30am. 
  • Australia Day Awards Ceremony at Lake Talbot Water Park from 8.30am to 10am.
  • From 10am Lake Talbot Water Park will be open to the general public at the conclusion of the Australia Day Ceremony. There will be lots of great tunes during the day, the canteen will be open and lots of fun with all the onsite facilities. Extra shade areas will be available this year, normal pool entry fees apply from 10am.
  • From 12 noon at Lake Talbot boat ramp, grab a kayak (free hire) and paddle along the foreshore of Lake Talbot to the kayak area. Drinks will be available from the Lake Talbot Tourist Park staff who will assist you try this great sport. 

Elsewhere in Narrandera:

  • Survival Day March. Beginning at 10.30am at Narrandera Ambulance Station, join into the NAIDOC lead community march to celebrate the oldest surviving Indigenous Culture. This event is open to all the Narrandera Shire Community.  The Survival Day March will start at 11am from the Ambulance Station down East Street to Memorial Park.
  • Australia Day Concert. From 1pm to 4pm at Narrandera Exies Auditorium, there will be a free matinee Concert & Dance featuring local bush band, The Tin Shed Rattlers. Enjoy the air conditioned comforts at the club and dance the afternoon away.
  • First Nations Cultural Tour with Sandhills Artefacts (bookings essential) www.narranderafirstnationsculturaltour.eventbrite.com.au   Join us for an immersive journey into the rich tapestry of First Nations' culture, where ancient traditions come to life. The tour will start at 2pm at their gallery.

Barellan:

Enjoy a community barbeque and entertainment at Barellan Pool for 9am to 2pm.

Grong Grong:

Come to Grong Grong Park for the Australia Day flag raising then to the Royal Hotel for a great family community day including bbq, yabby races and games for the family from 12pm to 3pm.
