Koala Festival 2025
September 20+21
About the Festival
Meet Australia's cutest koala colony at the Narrandera Koala Festival - a weekend of epic bushland experiences, wildlife encounters, and nature-fuelled fun in the Riverina.
Since 1972, Narrandera's koala colony has grown from 20 reintroduced koalas to over 300 roaming the riverbanks and river red gums. This is your chance to get up close, get involved, and be part of one of Australia's longest-running conservation stories.
It's not just about spotting koalas (trust us, you'll spot plenty). Think riverside bushwalks, nature-craft workshops, live music, food vans, and a killer light show under the stars. Pack your camera and your sense of adventure - this is one weekend you'll never forget.
What's On
Koala Fest • Saturday 20 September • Brewery Flat Reserve
From midday Saturday, dive into koala habitat tours, guided bushwalks, kayak tours, nature & art workshops, reptile encounters and much more! Refuel at local food stalls and kick back with live music as the afternoon rolls on.
When the sun goes down, the bush turns electric with a Light Show from 6pm, transforming the riverside reserve into an after-dark spectacle.
Koala Count • Sunday 21 September • Narrandera Flora and Fauna Reserve
Sleep in, grab your coffee, and join the ultimate wildlife treasure hunt. The Narrandera koala Count is Australia's longest-running citizen science event and anyone can join in. Spot koalas, help with the official count, and play a real part in protecting their future.
No wildlife degree required, just sharp eyes and a decent lunch planned for afterwards.
