Youth Week Mural: A Celebration of Creativity, Collaboration and Community

Narrandera Shire Council is proud to announce the successful completion of a new youth-led mural, launched as the opening event of Youth Week 2025 in April. This initiative brought together over 30 local young people who collaborated to design and paint a mural that now proudly hangs in the Youth Space at the Narrandera Library.

The mural, created under the Youth Week theme “We are the FUTURE and the future is NOW”, is an expression of identity, community pride, and connection. Each participant contributed to the final piece, reflecting their voices, stories, and shared aspirations for the future.

This collaborative project was made possible through the joint efforts of Narrandera Shire Council’s Community Liaison Officer, Nyoka Prior, the Narrandera Youth Council, and The Wild Easel.

“The energy and enthusiasm from our young people during this project was incredible,” said Community Liaison Officer Nyoka Prior.

“The mural is more than just artwork, it is a symbol of the strength, creativity, and leadership that our youth bring to the community. It is giving them a space that is theirs.”

The mural now serves as a colourful and welcoming feature within the Youth Space, helping transform it into a more inviting and inclusive place for young people to connect, create, and feel a sense of ownership and belonging.

Narrandera Shire Council remains committed to supporting youth-led initiatives that empower, inspire, and build stronger futures for our community’s young people. Council also extends its gratitude to the NSW Department of Justice for their support
