Truck Wash

Narrandera Shire’s Stock and Bitumen Truck Wash is now open!

The site located on McGilvray Road at the Red Hill Industrial Estate has provision for washing stock floats (up to B-Triple length) and bitumen sprayers and associated equipment, allowing for improved disease control and reduction of effluent spillage.

The stock wash is part of the National Country Truck Wash network which includes more than 100 similar facilities in the eastern states, all of which can be accessed with the same electronic keying system which is available for use 24 hours seven days a week.

The bitumen wash bay is dedicated to these types of vehicles and while it is operated through the same keying system, it is specific to the Narrandera Truck Wash.

Mayor Neville Kschenka is very pleased to see the facility in operation, “The truck wash reduces the travel distance for drivers to carry out the necessary biosecurity hazard reduction, than previously experienced. Availability of this facility also provides the potential for drivers to utilise other services in Narrandera, thereby supporting the local economy.”

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said she is delighted the new facility is operational and is looking forward to officially opening the project.

“This facility will save time and money for the hundreds of drivers who pass through the region every day,” Ms Cooke said.

“With this challenging time I am so pleased the NSW Government has helped bring this project to life, which will be a boost for many local businesses. I look forward to seeing it in action."

This project was jointly funded by the Australian Government and NSW Government under the Fixing Country Truck Washes program for $552,000, with local business Menz Plant and Narrandera Shire Council also contributing funding towards the project.
