Visitor economy
The visitor economy makes a significant contribution to the economic activity of Narrandera Shire. In the 2025-26 financial year, visitors generated 56.4% of all spending recorded within the Narrandera Shire local government area*.
Visitor spend supports local businesses and employment, contributing to the viability of local services and generating broader economic benefits across the community. It encompasses goods, services and experiences accessed by people travelling to the Shire for leisure, events, business, work, sport, or to visit friends and relatives. The benefits of a robust visitor economy extend beyond events, accommodation and attractions, to include cafes, restaurants, retailers, service stations, and other businesses that welcome visitors during their stay.

Visitor Economy Strategy
Narrandera Shire Council is currently developing a Visitor Economy Strategy focused on building and growing the region's visitor economy over the next 10 years.
We are asking visitors, local business owners, and community members to complete a short survey to help identify tourism opportunities for the Narrandera Shire, along with understanding the specific challenges and barriers for the region across the tourism sector.
The survey will take 5-10 minutes to complete and closes on 11:59PM Sunday, 4 October 2026.
