About the Council

You can access information by clicking on the menu items on the left.

The present Narrandera Shire was formed on 1 January 1960. This was by an amalgamation of the previous Narrandera Municipality and part of the Yanko Shire. Except for the western part that was lost in 1929-30 to Leeton the present Shire is similar to the original 1906 boundary. The first Narrandera Municipality was incorporated on 18 March 1885.

The Narrandera township is centred on the Murrumbidgee River and the towns within the Shire include Barellan and Grong Grong. Binya village and a number of farming localities all contribute to the characteristics of the Council area.
