Grong Grong
A small and caring community - is a village 20kms east of Narrandera with an interactive community. Ideal for anyone who wants country living within close proximity to the amenities of a larger town. BUSINESSES found in our village are a general store and post office, pub, stock and station agent, an excellent mechanic and motel. PIC Australia has their office here and is a large company involved in the breeding and growing of pigs. It provides EMPLOYMENT for many people in the district and has happily provided part time work for Uni students. All these business have friendly owners or staff who are happy to have a chat and answer any questions you may have. We have a well maintained and equipped PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL and we are very proud of our historic WAR MEMORIAL AND COMMEMORATION HALL where a large range of activities have been held over the years and is still in regularly use. Our PARK is well kept and provides PUBLIC TOILETS, a free gas BBQ and two sets of picnic tables. There is also playground equipment to keep the kids active. The SPORTS CLUB is a big part of the fabric of the town and it hosts tennis, golf and softball. The unisex softball competition starts at the end of the January school holidays and concludes before the Easter break and we usually have at least 7 teams involved. Family members and friends of high school age and older enjoy playing together on a Saturday evening and finish off with a BBQ tea. Contact Kent on 69562151 for more information. We have local lads involved in the GANMAIN, GRONG GRONG,MATONG AFL club and this very successful team have won 4 premierships over the last 5 years. Rah the Lions! The FISHING CLUB is active down on the Murrumbidgee and meets regulary to organise activities. The RODEO and GYMKHANA CLUB have been very active over a number of years and have revitalised the old footy ground. The OVER 50's (doesn't really matter your age) meet at the hall on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month to share lunch and they organise a large range of activiities for a great afternoon of entertainment. There are two CHURCHES that still congregate, the St Matthew's Anglican on the 2nd and 4th Sunday at 5pm and the St Patrick's Catholic on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday at 8am. We have a HALL and PROGRESS Committee who coordinate the activities for the Hall and projects around our village such as replacement of community fences and gates, the planting of trees, Clean Ups and Australia Day , they meet every second month. The Bulloak CWA ladies meet monthly and they are a very active and community minded group.
