Barellan Village Features
Barellan village is located on the Burley Griffin Way. It has a history associated with the early 19th Century pastoral activity in the Shire. It is within a productive grain growing area about 55 kms north of Narrandera. The Barellan Museum is located near the Commercial Hotel and is run by an enthusiastic local committee. It opens as follows:
The Museum houses a collection of items from the village and district past. Barellan is the location of the first CWA Rest House in NSW, established in 1924. Barellan is proud of its champion tennis player, Eyvonne Goolagong Cawley , who grew up and started her tennis in the village. Barellan Central School provides schooling from K-12. Contact Phone (02) 6963 9202. Barellan Progress Association and a number of sporting and activity groups provide support to the community. A swimming pool operates in the summer months.
